Welcome!
The purpose of the SCI Student Composer Exchange is to provide an
official avenue for student SCI members at neighboring universities to
exchange performances, paper presentations, or discussion sessions with
each other, so that both composers benefit from making contacts with
other student composers and performers. Because student composers can
become isolated within the culture of their own institution, this
program provides a structure that enables students to broaden their
perspectives on composition.
SCI Student Chapters have already engaged in some exchanges in the
2005-2006 school year. One exchange occurred in February, 2006 via an
Internet2 videoconference where students from The Ohio State University
and from the University of Florida listened to performances of each
others' pieces and shared their reactions. Another exchange was the
Nanoconference held at the Georgia State University.
